May: Walking in Confidence – A Kingdom Perspective

Published May 1st, 2025 by The Great I AM Faith Center

"So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded." – Hebrews 10:35 (NIV)

As we step into the month of May, a season often associated with blooming, growth, and forward movement, let’s pause and ask ourselves: Am I walking in the confidence God has given me? Not arrogance, not self-reliance—but a deeply rooted assurance in who we are because of whose we are.

What is Confidence?

Confidence, in a Kingdom context, is not about having all the answers or being perfect. It is trusting God enough to move, even when you feel uncertain. It’s about standing on His promises and embracing your identity in Christ. Confidence is the fruit of intimacy with God and a clear understanding of His character and your calling.

The Foundation of Godly Confidence

1. Confidence in God’s Character

"The Lord will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being caught." – Proverbs 3:26

When we know God as faithful, good, and sovereign, we can be confident in every situation—even when the outcomes are unclear.

2. Confidence in Your Identity

"I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made." – Psalm 139:14

You are not a mistake. You are not overlooked. God handcrafted you for purpose and impact. When you embrace your identity as His beloved, confidence becomes a natural posture.

3 Confidence in the Assignment

"Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it..." – Philippians 1:6

Confidence allows you to say yes to God’s calling, even when you feel underqualified. God doesn’t call the qualified—He qualifies the called.

Barriers to Confidence

  • Comparison: Looking to others instead of Christ erodes confidence.
  • Fear of Failure: Mistakes don’t disqualify you—they often position you.
  • Negative Self-Talk: What you say to yourself must align with what God says about you.

How to Cultivate Confidence in Christ

  • Daily Word Intake – Let Scripture anchor your soul.
  • Prayer and Journaling – Stay connected and reflect on His faithfulness.
  • Speak Truth Over Yourself – Declare what God says about you, even when you don’t feel it.
  • Surround Yourself with Encouragers – Community helps water your confidence.

A May Challenge: Walk Boldly

This month, make a decision to do something that fear told you not to do. It may be small or big, but do it with the assurance that God goes before you. Confidence is like a muscle—it grows as you use it.

Declare this:

“I am chosen, equipped, and empowered. I walk in confidence because my God is faithful. I will not shrink back—I will move forward in boldness, grace, and purpose.”

Let May be the month you rise—confident, courageous, and completely rooted in Christ.
